I founded the Mysterious Writ in 2001 a few days before the WTC went down in a heap of rubble. Hmmm? My timing is legendary among my friends, and hasn’t improved much. Why did all this happen? The group that is— Spite, pretty much sums it up. In early 01’ I was hopelessly unemployed, and sought out a counselor through a career center, which went belly up shortly after I left the program. Hmmm? Moving on, the counselor basically blew a helping of smoke out of his lower orifice and chimed in on his hasty exit that I should join a writers group. The heck with that, I started my own— And I’m very glad I did. The results and the people have been great. My own writing has grown and it wouldn’t have gotten here if it wasn’t for these folks who signed up with me on this voyage. Clearly one of my better blunders was starting this group. Too, the online presence is my attempt to reach out to others struggling with the craft, and specifically the mystery genre. Hopefully it will continue to grow itself, perhaps even a virtual spin-off of the group will someday reach the web. We’ll see.
